The Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros meet in MLB action from Minute Maid Park on Thursday.
The Kansas City Royals will look to build on their 7-4 win over the Astros from Wednesday’s matchup. Going into Wednesday’s game, Andrew Benintendi leads the Royals with 92 hits along with a .313 batting average and 32 RBIs while Salvador Perez has 11 home runs and 34 RBIs of his own. Perez has 13 doubles and Hunter Dozier has 15 doubles as well as a pair of triples and Bobby Witt Jr. has 16 doubles as well on the year. Witt Jr. also has a team-high 5 triples with 42 RBIs as well while Benintendi also has a pair of triples and Whit Merrifield has 18 doubles and 33 RBIs as well this season. Kris Bubic will get the start here and is 1-5 with a 7.06 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season.
The Houston Astros will look to rebound from their loss to the Royals from Wednesday. Entering Wednesday, Michael Brantley has 70 hits with a .288 batting average while Yuli Gurriel has a team-high 23 doubles and Alex Bregman has 66 hits with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 42 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez has a team-high 25 home runs and 58 RBIs and Kyle Tucker has 16 home runs and 56 RBIs as well this season. Jeremy Pena also has a .276 batting average with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs of his own this season. Justin Verlander will start here and is 10-3 with a 2.03 ERA and 90 strikeouts this season.
Kansas City is 1-4 in their last 5 game four matchup and 37-84 in their last 121 games against the AL West while the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 Thursday games. Houston is 42-16 in their last 58 games overall and 43-19 in their last 62 home games while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games against the AL Central.
The Royals were able to salvage a win over the Astros on Wednesday, and Kris Bubic does have a win over the Astros from earlier this year, but I’m not expecting that to replicate here. Justin Verlander’s just been so good and when the Astros go down, they don’t usually stay down for long. I think the Astros take out some frustration on the Royals to close out the series on Thursday, so give me Houston -1.5 to try to get some extra value out of this insane line.
