The Toronto Blue Jays and the Oakland Athletics meet Wednesday in MLB action from O.co Coliseum. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The A’s took a win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday Oakland got another victory by two runs. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto couldn’t find much success on five team hits in the Monday opener and ended up losing 5-1. In the Tuesday game, the Jays gave up four runs across the first three innings in a 5-3 loss. Yusei Kikuchi had a rough start with 2.1 innings, four earned, two hits and five walks.

For the starter job in the Wednesday matchup, the Jays will send out Jose Berrios. In his 16 starts so far Berrios is 6-4 with a 5.72 ERA. In 83.1 innings total he has 53 earned, 97 hits, 22 walks and 67 Ks.

Over on the A’s side, they scored three in the first inning Monday and never looked back en route to victory. On Tuesday, Oakland had just four team hits (and gave up 10) in the win. Starter Adrian Martinez finished with 5.0 innings, three earned and eight hits.

James Kaprielian will be the A’s starter on Wednesday. In 12 starts so far this year Kaprielian is 1-5 with a 5.43 ERA. In 58.0 innings of work he has 53 hits, 35 earned, 27 walks and 40 Ks.

The Jays are 18-6 in their last 24 versus the AL West and 2-5 in their last seven road games. The over is 5-0 in Toronto’s last five Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the A’s are 17-42 in their last 59 at home and 17-46 in their last 63 overall. Oakland is 0-5 in their last five Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the A’s. Kaprielian has looked pretty good over his last three games: in that time he has six earned in a combined 16.2 innings on 10 hits and eight walks. As for Berrios, he had a rough couple of outings going (14 earned; 6.2 innings) before bouncing back versus Tampa his last time up. I’d imagine both starters will put up pretty solid numbers here in a fairly close game.
